Parador Benavente Hotel is located in the centre of the town. The parador 'Fernando II de Leon' as it is called occupies the castle- palace built in the 12th century. It was named to honour Fernando II as the founder of the town.
The seat of parliament in 1176, this Reinassance style castle was built by Fernando II de Leon and forms part of the former walled enclousure of the town. The interior contains classical decorative elements such rugs, forged lamps, coffered ceilings, wood and castillians briks. The dreamy bedrooms are confortable, and the restaurant offers the regions's gastronomic array.
It is a grand renaissance-style castle incorporating a beautiful conserved tower called 'la torre del caracol'(tower of the snail) which was declared to be a national monument.
