The Klaustur Hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of Iceland, a short distance from Skaftafell national park, Vatnajokull and within easy reach of the powerful and mysterious Lakagigar area. The hotel is in the village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur surrounded by a varied and beautiful natural landscape. This South Eastern corner of Iceland is exceptionally mild - statistically proven to have one of the highest average temperatures in Iceland. The rooms on first floor only have showers. The swimming pool at Hotel Klaustur is open all summer and there is a golf course only 5 km from the hotel. There are many interesting and beautiful places to visit and near the village. Guided day trips are offered during summer time to the Lakagigar craters and to Nupsstaoir Woods. Skaftafell National Park is only about an hour's drive away (70 km) and Jokulsarlon on the Breidamerkur Sands about a two hours drive (120 km) away.
