General Information
An ideal base for all kinds of travel, the Hotel La Rosetta boasts 90 rooms equipped with all modern comforts. The main floor rooms have recently been refurbished in 18th century style, while the 1920s have been the inspiration for the rooms in the floors above. But what could be a better arrival point than the hotel's meeting rooms or its famous restaurant with outdoor service providing a vast choice of Umbrian and Italian wines.
La Rosetta started over 83 years ago, in March 1922, when Egisto Paradisi invested all his savings to open a small restaurant. Paradisi was destined to become on of the fathers of the concept of tourism in Umbria, and La Rosetta is now a top hotel with over 90 rooms.
A self-made man in every sense, Paradisi began his career as a lift boy in what was at the time the only prestigious hotel in Perugia. When he returned from fighting in the Cacciatori delle Alpi brigade during the First World War, Paradisi and his wife Lisetta decided to open up their own small business made up of seven rooms to rent and a small restaurant. The name "Rosetta" was chosen on account of Lisetta's passion for roses.
The seventy years that have elapsed since are seventy years of Italian and Umbrian history, culture and life. More famous people have stayed at La Rosetta than coul fill an encyclopedia. Here are but a few: Primo Carnera, Trilussa, Brilli Peri, Nuvolari (during the Mille Miglia race through Perugia), Emma Grammatica, Vanda Osiris, Edoardo and Peppino de Filippo, Carlo Dapporto, Paolo Stoppa, Ezra Pound, the presidents Gronchi, Segni and many others.
Today La Rosetta stands out as a structure that has been able to change with the times whilst maintaining intact the tradition of hospitality and efficiency so dear to its founder. Over the years, in fact, La Rosetta has consistently opted for contemporary solutions to cater for the needs of an ever-changing and increasingly demanding clientele.
